Storjord usually has little rainfall In 1999 it was registered 99mm! This is the lowest measured since around 1860, when they started to record rainfall officially in Norway.
Junkerdalsura which begins right beside the center, is a canyon with rich flora, including Marisko. In the area there are oragnized nature-, culture- and hiking trails with disabled facilities. There are also set up picnic areas, gap hatch and landscaped camp sites. Several henger bridges connect the trail system and provide walking possibilities in several directions.
